5 ways to develop abundance mindset

India is a land of the wealthy as well as the poor. On one hand you will find tall skyscrapers seeming as if they are trying to touch the sky. On the other hand, you will notice slums and hutments just a few metres away. It is a common scene to see luxury cars on the roads of India. But nobody seems to look at the battered two wheelers trying to make their way through busy streets. The rich gorge on expensive, delicious culinary delights at five star hotels while the poor man can hardly get more than one meal in a day.

Why are some people able to attract wealth and become rich while some continue to remain poor decade after decade? What is that quality that successful men/women use to enjoy prosperous and happy lives full of abundance? The secret lies in their mental attitude of attracting all the good things of life. They have what is called the “Abundance mindset” which works as a magnet to bring in riches and success in your life. An Abundance mindset believes that there are plentiful resources available for everyone. This mindset opens our minds to limitless opportunities available to us. This attitude releases energy and personal magnetism which attracts all that is desirable in life. Here are 5 ways to develop abundance mindset:

1) You deserve abundance: One of the ways to develop abundance mindset is to believe that you deserve abundance. You are worthy to get your share of resources which the universe wants to offer you. People have guilty feelings of wealth and prosperity. Most of it has been unknowingly learned in childhood from parents, teachers or peers. That money is bad, that money is the root of all evil. If you want to receive abundance in your life, you have to wipe out all negative subconscious thoughts and start on a clean slate. You have to believe that you are entitled for all the good things that life has stored for you.

2) Give up the scarcity mindset: When you are on your way to develop abundance mindset, you have to give up its enemy, that is the scarcity mindset.  This type of mentality is just the opposite of the abundance mentality. People with the scarcity mindset focus on what is lacking in their lives. Such people have a pessimistic attitude towards acquiring wealth. They feel they should not have a bigger house or a bigger pay packet because they don’t deserve it. That is the reason people who want to develop abundance mentality should be careful when the scarcity mindset tries to sabotage their plans.

3) Instant Gratification: Instant gratification is the desire to fulfil your wants instantly or as soon as possible. It is seeking a short-term fleeting pleasure instead of a long-term permanent benefit. Instant gratification is not conducive for developing abundance mentality. This destructive tendency of instant pleasure can make you neglect your long term goals. It can make you compulsive spenders which can blow a hole in your budget. So for developing abundance mindset, let go of the urge for instant gratification and look at long term benefits.

4) Create goals: Setting goals is the path to an abundance mentality. Setting short and long term goals opens your mind to immense possibilities. Be sure to note your plans on paper so that you can see them. Your short and long term goals should be based on financial freedom, educational training, improving your health, etc. Creating goals and putting them into action is a way to developing abundance mindset.

5) Be thankful for what you have: Be grateful for the things you have and for your present circumstances. You may not have rich possessions or your circumstances may not be so great but be thankful for whatever you have. When we do this, we overcome fear and guilt which stems out of a scarcity mentality. Gratitude leads to more positive emotions, better health and an ability to surpass adverse conditions. Gratitude is the key that opens the door to a more abundant life.

The process of developing abundance mindset starts when you do. It does not require a college degree or a professional course to make a beginning. A quote by the great author Stephen Covey says, “If you want small changes in your life, work on your attitude. But if you want big and primary changes, work on your paradigm.” A new paradigm or a new way of thinking is what is needed to develop abundance mindset.
