How Tech Mahindra Designed Future-Ready Leadership Pathways Through Assessments and Simulation-Based Learning

simulation-based leadership development

Tech Mahindra partnered with SimuRise to build a future-facing leadership journey for 76 of its top women leaders across India. Through simulation-based leadership development, advanced assessments, behavioral simulations, and team-based coaching, this initiative identified individual strengths, surfaced team dynamics, and equipped participants for the next level of strategic leadership.

Introduction

Tech Mahindra, a global technology solutions powerhouse, is not just shaping the future of digital transformation, but also of inclusive leadership through simulation-based leadership development.

As part of its commitment to growing women leaders for critical senior roles, the organization invested in a focused learning intervention. The goal was not just to build capability, but to assess readiness, highlight gaps, and enable a strategic roadmap for leadership growth.

SimuRise was brought in to design and deliver this experience, one rooted in self-awareness, team insight, and behavioral change.

The Objective

This wasn’t a standard workshop.

The goal was to:

  • Gauge the strategic readiness of Tech Mahindra’s top 76 women leaders
  • Surface real behavior and thinking patterns through action-based learning
  • Enable tailored leadership journeys backed by assessment data and simulation performance

Each element of the program was designed to move beyond theoretical leadership traits—and get to the real, lived behavior under pressure.

The SimuRise Method

The journey included three key layers:

1. Skill-Based Assessments

Each participant underwent a structured leadership capability assessment, covering five key areas:

  • Systematic Thinking
  • Planning & Prioritization
  • Complex Problem Solving
  • Resourcefulness
  • Time Pressure Navigation

This diagnostic helped identify thinking styles such as The Chess Player, The Entrepreneur, The Explorer, The Optimizer, and more.

2. Virtual Simulation: Diamonds of Amazonia

To replicate high-pressure decision-making in a team setting, SimuRise deployed Diamonds of Amazonia, a virtual simulation tailored to Tech Mahindra’s context.

Despite being spread across locations, participants collaborated in real time, strategized together, and navigated complex problem-solving scenarios.

Unlike presentations or training sessions, this was about seeing what happens when the stakes feel real, but in a safe, controlled environment.

3. Team Feedback + Reporting

The results weren’t left hanging.

Each team received feedback on their behavioral patterns during the simulation.
They could see how they handled pressure, how collaboration emerged (or broke down), and how individual thinking styles influenced team decisions.

Detailed reports outlined both individual and collective strengths, gaps, and action areas, enabling Tech Mahindra to design smarter learning journeys post-intervention.

Key Outcomes

1. Skill Gaps, Made Visible

The program surfaced tangible skill gaps and provided clear direction on what each leader—and each team—needed to focus on next.

2. Personalized Growth Paths

Armed with data, Tech Mahindra built customized simulation-based leadership development learning journeys for each participant, grounded in behavioral truth, not assumptions.

3. Cross-Location Collaboration

Women leaders across India experienced meaningful team-building, without ever being in the same room. This helped strengthen collaboration across time zones and regions.

4. Strategic Talent Planning

The assessments helped Tech Mahindra plan their leadership pipeline with clarity—knowing who’s ready for what, and what development is needed for future roles.

Conclusion

Tech Mahindra’s collaboration with SimuRise didn’t just deliver a workshop. It built a leadership foundation.

Through simulation, assessment, and coaching, 76 women leaders gained clarity, insight, and direction on how to lead with greater confidence and competence.

Most importantly, the program proved that immersive, action-based learning and simulation-based leadership development is one of the fastest ways to accelerate leadership readiness, especially in a fast-changing, high-stakes industry.
